Terms of Service

1. About These Terms

These terms of service (“Terms”) govern your use of the bikedok mobile application (the “app”) and the bikedok bicycle parking service (the “Service”), operated by bikedok Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15490930).

By creating an account and using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. The Service

bikedok provides secure bicycle parking through physical docking units (the “Units”) located at various sites. The app allows you to locate Units, book a dock, unlock and lock Units via Bluetooth, and pay for your usage.

The availability of Units depends on location, demand, and operational factors. We will make reasonable efforts to keep Units available and in working order, but cannot guarantee that any particular Unit will be available at any given time.

3. Your Account

To use the Service, you must create an account and provide accurate information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account with others or allow anyone else to use your account to access a Unit.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, or have the permission of a parent or guardian.

4. Using the Service

When using a bikedok Unit, you agree to:

  • Use the Unit only for parking bicycles (or other vehicles as may be supported)
  • Not attempt to force, damage, or tamper with any Unit
  • End your session promptly when you retrieve your bicycle
  • Not leave a Unit booked or occupied beyond any maximum duration that may apply
  • Report any damage or malfunction to us via the app or by contacting contact@bikedok.co.uk

We reserve the right to end a session, release a lock, or restrict your access to the Service if we reasonably believe you are misusing the Service or breaching these Terms.

5. Payments

Usage charges are displayed in the app before you confirm a booking. By confirming a booking, you authorise us to charge the applicable amount to your registered payment method.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. You agree to Stripe’s terms of service in relation to payment processing.

Pricing may vary by location and may change from time to time. We will display the current pricing in the app at the time of booking.

6. Cancellations and Refunds

If you cancel a booking before connecting to a Unit, no charge will be applied. Once a session has started (i.e. a Unit has been unlocked), charges will apply for the duration of the session.

If you experience a technical problem that prevents you from using the Service as expected, please contact us at contact@bikedok.co.uk and we will review refund requests on a case-by-case basis.

7. Your Bicycle and Belongings

While the bikedok Units are designed to provide secure bicycle parking and hold a Sold Secure Diamond rating, we do not guarantee that your bicycle or belongings will be completely safe from theft, damage, or loss in all circumstances. You are responsible for ensuring that your bicycle is properly placed within the Unit and that the Unit has locked correctly (the app will confirm this).

We accept liability for loss or damage to your bicycle only where it is directly caused by a proven defect in a bikedok Unit or a failure of the locking mechanism, and only up to a reasonable value of the bicycle. We recommend that you maintain appropriate insurance for your bicycle.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss arising from your use of the Service
  • Our total liability to you in respect of any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the greater of £200 or the total amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim
  • Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law

9. Service Availability

We aim to keep the app and the Units operational at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, adverse weather, or other factors beyond our reasonable control. We will endeavour to provide notice of planned maintenance where practical.

10. Bluetooth and Connectivity

The Service requires a Bluetooth connection between your mobile device and the bikedok Unit. You are responsible for ensuring your device’s Bluetooth is enabled and functioning. We cannot guarantee connectivity in all environments or with all device types, although the app is designed and tested to work with the vast majority of modern smartphones.

11. Intellectual Property

The app, its content, design, and the bikedok brand are owned by bikedok Ltd or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer the app or any part of the Service.

12. Changes to the Service and These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time. Where reasonably possible, we will provide advance notice of significant changes.

13. Account Closure

You can close your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting us at contact@bikedok.co.uk. Any outstanding charges must be paid before account closure. We may also close or suspend your account if you breach these Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
